Dr. Tom Carlson

Tom is a Lecturer (~assistant professor) at the Aspire CREATe (Centre for Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology), University College London, UK. His research focus is on the user-centred design of assistive robotic technologies for people with spinal cord injuries.

Tom collaborates with Delft Haptics Lab in the investigation and promotion of shared control systems. Together with Mark Mulder and David Abbink he co-founded the IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Shared Control, which aims to bring together an outstanding, multi-disciplinary team of experts to develop guidelines on the design and evaluation of shared control systems, across different application areas.
