PhD Mona Hichert

Mona is a PhD candidate, supervised by DirkJan Veeger (promotor), Dick Plettenburg (co-promotor) and David Abbink (co-promotor).

“At DIPO (the Delft Institute of Prosthetics and Orthotics) I started my research on body-powered prostheses in 2011. In the scope of my PhD project sponsored by fonds NutsOHRA I investigate how humans control and perceive Bowden cable forces and excursions during body-powered prosthesis operation. That acquired knowledge should help to improve prosthesis design. After close collaboration over the last years I became a Delft Haptics Lab member in 2016. I successfully defended my PhD on February 22nd 2017.

When I am not in the lab, I like to do all kind of sports, my passion remains handball, and I love to travel and combine experiencing nature with sports like diving, hiking, skiing, and mountain-biking. Since September 2015 I am mummy of Tom.”
